Vote For Edwards on Super tues.

to all Edwards supporters:

The sadness and sense of despair that gripped my heart this morning when the TV news told us that John Edwards would announce his withdrawal from the Presidential race was reminiscent of the day Al Gore conceded to George W. Bush. In my political experience, the only feeling more tragic was in November 2004 when we found out we'd have to endure another 4 years of the Bush regime.

The downward spiral of our economy, the disastrous foreign policy, the loss of our Constitutional rights, our involvement in the never-ending wars in the Middle East, the loss of the lives of our soldiers and the innocent Iraqi people, the deplorable treatment of our soldiers and veterans, our under-financed schools, the neglect and abuse of the environment, the no-bid contracts, the cronyism, the mercenaries, the constant reminders to be fearful, the sky-rocketing debt of trillions of dollars, the alienation of our allies, the squandering of international support after 9/11, and the lies, OMG the lies!

The only thing scarier than what Bush has done to us is the fact that our elected "representatives" let him get by with it!

If the Republicans are not stopped - and stopped in a BIG way - we can look forward to 8 more years of the same - and worse.

Those of us who have been following the candidates know that Edwards is the candidate with REAL IDEAS. While the media ignored him, Hillary and Obama took his ideas, claimed them for their own, and the press stood by and watched. No, that's not quite accurate. The press put Hillary and Obama in the limelight, gave them credit for John's ideas, and basically shoved the two celebrity candidates down our throats.

Well, I am tired of the media slanting the coverage, ignoring viable candidates, and narrowing down our choices when we haven't even had the chance to vote yet!

Let's not take this lying down! Let's give them something to report that they can't ignore!

We need a swelling of grass roots support for Edwards. His campaign may be suspended, but we can keep it moving. They can't take our voice away unless we let them. Keep making phone calls, sending letters and emails, organize a group in somebody's basement, and GET THE VOTE OUT next week! It's not over until the fat lady sings, and I'm just warming up my voice. How about you?

Edwards' name is still on the ballot. Let's give him a mandate to return. There are TWO things that will make our voice heard. VOTES and CONTRIBUTIONS.

Here's my pledge: I will VOTE for Edwards on February 5th, I will make a financial CONTRIBUTION to a political candidate for the first time in my life, and I will seek out other Edwards supporters and VOLUNTEER to stuff envelopes or something!

Please join me! I don't ever want that sinking feeling again.

Circling the Drain

Like George Carlin said, we're circling the drain. If the Republicans regain control of everything again, we may as well just push the power flush button.

Eight years of Republican rule have been devastating to our economy, our veterans, the homeless, the poor, our school systems, small businesses, to name a few. And eight years of "W" has projected us into a never-ending war, alienated our allies, and ruined our reputation around the world - what a disgrace!

When will the Democrats wake up and promote a candidate for whom the majority of people will vote? Neither Hillary Clinton nor Barack Obama can win the national election. Let's get real.

There are just too many people - Republican, Democrat, and Independent alike - that can't stand Hillary. Many of them don't even know why - they just don't like her and won't vote for her. Many do have reasons. Many just wouldn't vote for any woman under any circumstances.

Barack Obama's chances aren't much different. He just hasn't had the exposure Hillary has, so they don't have as much ammunition. What do we know about him? He can deliver a great speech. He has some charisma. But we've seen him in debates and one-on-one interviews, and he's not up to par. His responses are vague with no specifics whatsoever. All of that aside, the real question is whether he can win the national election. Maybe he could - if he didn't have to run against the Republicans. Or, as much as I hate to say it, if he wasn't black. Just as many Americans just wouldn't vote for a woman, many wouldn't vote for a black person. Not a nice thought, but nevertheless, it's true.

Many Americans have risen above such racial prejudice, even in the South, and would vote for a black man. If his middle name wasn't Hussein. Or if his father and stepfather hadn't been Muslim. Or if his church didn't proclaim a "non-negotiable commitment to Africa" and affirm "ministries that address the Black Community". We've all seen the emails claiming that Obama won't sing the national anthem, won't recite the Pledge of Allegiance, or put his hand over his heart for either one, etc. etc.

John Edwards MUST stay in the race, and the Democrats MUST nominate him, that is, if they want to WIN.

General Election Out look at this Stage of the Campaign

The actual numbers varies from time to time. But there is about 40 percent of the nation that votes Democratic or leans democratic about 33 percent are Republican or leans Republican the rest are the swing independent voters. This group is growing. There is about 27 to 30 percent of them. In every general election the battle is for the Independent voter. This group controls the outcome of almost every election.

Hillary strength is with in the party itself Obama has strong support also with in the party and some appeal out side with the Independent up scale voters. Edwards strength is with white middle class male voters but he is often the second choice for most of the Hillary and Obama supporters and he would have strong appeal to Independent voters in a general election because of his southern roots and economic message. John appeals to many angry voters in all three voting groups This is why he does better in polls against any Republican nominee in a possible general election match up. If Obama receives the nomination he will loose many of the white male voters. Hillary would have the same problem.

Even though Obama has appeal out side the democratic base in a general election he would loose some of the base especially if the Republican nominee is John McCain. Most of these are blue collar white voters that grew up in the 50's and 60's. A very large group that are loyal voters.

Many will say I am overlooking the black vote this groups votes about 90 to 95 percent Democratic, so obama won't gain many votes in that area because they are part of the base and normally vote democratic regardless who it is.

White Middle Age Males could control this election

I am a white middle age voters, a voting group in South Carolina that John Edwards carried. First I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR I am staying with John Edwards all the way. However The conventional wisdom is that if Edwards was not running we would be supporting Obama. but in my case I cannot vote for Obama or Hillary.

I am going to make a bold prediction. It is going to be the white middle age middle class voter who is going to be the swing voter that will control the outcome of the general election not unlike the Reagan Democrats or in more recent years the soccer moms. We as a group tend to vote democratic at least we prefer to. But at times we vote Republican. I am afraid this might be one of those times. Many of my contacts, white middle age males that normally vote Democratic have told me if Obama or Hillary is nominated they are going to vote for the Republican especially if it is John McCain. On the whole there is really not many of us (white males) that are loyal to the Democratic party. Most white males vote Republican. But there is enough of us if we swing we will control the outcome of the election.

I cannot see myself voting for a Republican but I might sit at home or I could cast a vote for every slot but president. I guess the Democratic Party does not need or want my vote especially the way they have treated Edwards.

Status -Quo

Much has been said about who is the real candidate of change. Obama claims he is candidate of change while Hillary insist she has the experience to be the change candidate.

I have done some home work. Yes both Obama and Hillary if elected would bring an element of change; Obama would be the first African American President and Hillary would be the first women President.

Beyond those two elements of change they are the status -quo or business as usual candidates.

I am a firm believer that you can tell where a candidates heart is by the endorsements they received from the political insiders such as lobbyist.

http://www.rollcall.com/politics/kstendo rsements.html

I am sure you noticed that John Edwards is not on this list. Now is there any question who is the real change candidate?

I will stand with John Edwards all the way to the White House. John is the real candidate of change

Do we ever learn from the past?

Jimmy Carter In 1980 was our party's sitting president at that time and I opposed him during the primaries, because I knew he could not win in the general election against Reagan. In 1984 I opposed Mondale because once again I knew he could not win. In 1988 I opposed Dukakis. I knew he could not win. In 2004 I opposed John Kerry I knew he could not win. However, being a good Democrat I supported most of these good people in the general election, even when I knew they did not have much of a chance.

If John McCain wins in South Carolina tonight, he will most likely become the Republican's nominee. I hate to say it, Hillary will loose in a general election against McCain, and for that matter Obama would too. Most polls would back me up on my last point.

John Edwards is the only Democrat at this stage that can beat John McCain
I have not given up on Edwards. I will stay with him if he stays with us.

This is a message to the Democratic Party's power brokers. When our party goes down in defeat in November loosing another presidential election. The day after the election I don't want to hear, from anyone that is in a power position with in The Party asking the question, what happen?

In 1988 we thought we had that election in the bag. We had a two term Republican President ready to leave office, our nominee was up by 20 points in the polls that summer before the election, and we lost in November. if Hillary or Obama receives our party's nomination, we might as well forget about the entire south from Missouri southward, leaving our party with little margin for error. Yes I have been down this road to many times before. I hope I am wrong. I don't want to say I told you so.

Nader backs Edwards

Here is a reminder to all about Nader's support of Edwards. This short article was posted on the John Edwards Blog.

just read this and think more people need to know that on January 2 of 2008 Ralph Nader went on the Thom Hartmann radio show (sirius left) and stated that he is throwing his supporters Edwards way because Edwards is the only candidate that is confronting the huge issue of special interest and corporations owning our politicians, including he said Obama. This needs to be in the mainstream media

The Swift boats are Warming up

If you want to take a look of how the Republican swift Boat group would go after Obama. They are just beginning to warm up their boats.

The following statement was sent to me as part of a news Alert from Newsmax.com : A close boyhood friend of Obama, Zulfin Adi, said Barack "was a Muslim. He went to the mosque."
Obama's first-grade teacher at a Catholic school, Israella Dharmawan, said: "Barry (Barack's nickname) was Muslim. He was registered as a Muslim because his father was Muslim."
In the third grade, Obama transferred to a public school, where he was also registered as a Muslim. At the school, Muslim students attended weekly religion lessons about Islam.
In his autobiography, "Dreams From My Father," Obama mentions studying the Koran and describes the public school as "a Muslim school." I know many on this blog will not like this. You might say I am being to negative. I should be positive. We must face the reality of the situation. We need to know the enemy we are dealing with and how are they going to attack.

What might of Happen in Iowa

I was up in Iowa the night of the caucus I saw a lot of went on up there. Obama might have stolen the night. Here is an article I found it on Edwards' blog.

(This was originally posted as a reply to Edwards/Obama Deceptive Numbers in Iowa) My husband and I were the caucus chair and precinct captain respectively,in our precinct. There is much misunderstanding of the caucus process in the public and in the media. The caucus process benefitted Edwards in that rural communities are given more power than if individual votes are counted as in a primary. However, there are SERIOUS problems with the Iowa caucuses...

First of all, the ONLY requirement to caucus here, is that you must have lived in Iowa for 10 days. You do NOT need to show ID, you do NOT need to show proof of residency upon registering at the caucus site. How many of you knew this? It is strictly an honor system. Your signature is an afidavit and if you are falsely signing in, there is a fine of several thousand dollars. However, this is virtually unenforcable. As a result, especially in the chaos of the huge Jan 3rd turnout, people caucused who should not have. It's easy. For example, visit a friend or relative for Christmas (more than 10 days before 01/03) and stay to caucus. We've lived in our neighborhood 10 years and I grew up here. We've been canvassing for months. (In other words, we are familiar with most folks in our neighborhood.) 2004 saw a record turnout in our tiny precinct of 60 some people, this year 139. Of the 61 Obama supporters at our caucus, 47 were unregistered, 15 had no ID with them (not required, remember) and 2 of them talked openly with each other about being from California and Wisconsin. And before anyone calls me a racist, almost all of us present at the caucus, including Obama supporters, were of the same color. The caucus chair called the Iowa Democratic Party hotline with concerns about lots of people with no ID that did not appear to be from the neighborhood - again, NOT BASED ON COLOR - and was told that chaos was happening all over the state and that there was basically nothing to be done. Does Obama deserve credit for having a phenomenal grassroots organization? Absolutely, yes. Did his campaign have non-Iowans caucusing? I believe, yes. Were there enough to determine the outcome? We'll never know. The national Democratic party should become involved in figuring out a fair way to regulate the Iowa caucuses. How about a 30 day residency requirement with proof of residency required at caucus site (like a utility bill)? With Iowa wielding this much power, this problem cannot be ignored

Corporate Elite are scared of Edwards

1/11/2008 at 2:10 PM EST

It has been obvious to all of us that have followed John's campaign that the corporate media and corporate lobbyist are scared to death of John Edwards.

The corporate elite are scared because John represents the shrinking middle class. John has pointed out the greed that lives like a cancer in many of our nation's major corporations. On top of that Edwards has a long history of fighting big corporate America and winning in the court room.

If John does not get the Democratic nomination, he should start a third party and call it "America's Middle Class Party"

Check out the following link;
http://www.guardian.co.uk/feedarticle?id =7217369

It is obvious why the corporate media has ignored Edwards. Corporate America can live with Hillary or Obama, but since John Edwards is a true fighter for the middle class corporate CEO's are scared to death of John. Obama and Hillary, just give lib service, to the real problems with the struggling middle class, providing no real solutions to the plight of the middle class. Corporate America can tolerate either Obama or Hillary as president, but not John Edwards, because John gives them Hell, but really he is just telling the truth. If by chance Edwards is elected president, The greedy corporation will feel like they are in Hell. That is right where they belong let them suffer for a while like the middle class has.

It is not only BIG OIL THAT IS GREEDY

I always thought that big oil was greedy. In reading this article, I have posted a link below shows the small oil companies are often worse than the big boys, in the industry. They are really sticking it to the consumer.

A Simple Suggestion

I have noticed like others that Edwards National poll numbers have been going up. I think there is a direct correlation with John's national numbers going up with John appearing on more news talk shows. This is free press. He should go on as many talks shows as possible, news or otherwise like, David Letterman etc. By going on these shows it helps keep John's name before the public. To a certain degree it also helps to offset some of the money difference he has with the other two candidates. I am sure it has had, and will continue to have a positive impact on Edwards over all poll numbers. John's national numbers are going to be very important come Feb. 5th when half the nation votes.

Corporate Media is not fair with Edwards

Our country is facing great challenges. We need a new approach for solving our problems. America needs a leader that is willing to tell us the truth and stand up and fight.

Our leader's in Washington do not hear us. Washington is broken.
The system in Washington is rigged, the cash is stacked against the middle class of America. The big corporations such as Big oil , Insurance, and let us not forget the Pharmaceutical companies, have control of Washington. Corporate America with other multi- national companies have built a wall of money around Washington preventing the average Americans voice of being heard.

Hillary Clinton is the status-quo candidate. If she is elected not much would change. Obama's means well but he is to green and he is to weak to stand up to the powerful interest in Washington Obama would cave under pressure. Obama has shown how weak he really is in the debates. John Edwards has been the leader and doing most of the fighting against the status-quo Hillary, Obama has been following the lead of Edwards.

The big Corporate types want Obama or even Hillary to be the Democratic Nominee because both of them can be beat by John McCain in a general elections. Recents polls taken will back me up on this point. If either one of them is nominated the Democratic Party has given up on every state from Missouri south. the greedy corporation know that Edwards would be the strongest candidate going up against the Republicans.

The big media is a tool of the status-quo. They are being used to preserve the fortress of money that controls Washington. The media does not like Edwards because he is threat to the greed that controls Washington this Includes the big media. The proof of this, there is very little coverage of Edwards' campaign. But if John decides to drop out of the race that would be all over the news. I know John is not going to, nor should he. John should fight all the way to the convention and to the white House.Let us demand more from the media, stop protecting the status-quo.

Clinton/Edwards/Obama

Is that too hard for the media to swallow? The first 10 or 15 minutes of the NH debate looked like the Obama/Clinton Show.

Finally when Edwards was given a chance to talk, he made mention a few times that in Iowa.... he came in second, he beat Hillary, now that she's behind....

It's about time somebody said it! Too bad he has to toot his own horn. The press should be saying it, calling it an upset, a surprise victory over Hillary, a second-place showing. Isn't that what NEWS is? Something unexpected? Instead, they continue to talk like it's a two-way race between Hillary & Obama.

Is it not newsworthy that Obama & Clinton outspent Edwards by about 4 to 1, and Edwards still managed to come in second?

Is it not newsworthy that Obama bussed in college students from Illinois to vote in the Iowa caucus, because in Iowa you can register and vote the same day?

Is it just a coincidence that the media is continually promoting the two candidates that the Republicans would most like to run against?

Edwards wins another DEBATE

Edwards was the winner in tonight's debate. John was clear and to the point with his message. It was John's best debate performance yet.

John came across as sincere and passionate and he had great command of all the issues.

I also thought that Obama looked very tired, and Hillary lost her cool one time, it was not her best moment. .

It is easy to see that Edwards cares about the struggling middle class. John would be the strongest President at this difficult time in our nation. He is also willing to take on the strong greedy corporation that control our lives in so many ways.
